When Breath Becomes Air

My AP Biology teacher recommended this book to me and I finally got around to picking it up from the library and it was absolutely breath taking (no pun intended).

Although it is not a sports nutrition or recovery related book, it is a really mind opening account from a student in the medical career.

The base story line is about the author, Paul Kalanithi, who is on his way to becoming one of the most successful doctors of his time when all of a sudden there is a plot twist. Instead of being the doctor in command, he switches places with his patients as he discovers that he has cancer.

Anyone considering a profession in the medical field should definitely give this book a try. He talks about his life through med school and experiences in the hospital setting.

Even if you don’t want to go into a medical career, this book was very eye opening in appreciating life and all the opportunities life has to offer.
